Gauss-Telegraph: Spanish Regular’s Table

Gauss-Telegraph: Spanish Regular’s Table

On Tuesday, the 27th of November 2018, the Spanish regular table took place during the Language Week at the Gauss Haus. The aim of the language regular tables is to gather around people from different countries, which have a certain language as their mother tongue or have a great interest in learning this particular language. By playing table games the group achieved a verbal exchange to a great extent only in Spanish. Represented by the students were countries such as Spain, Mexico, Colombia or even Germany. In the course of this the language levels ranged from that of a native speaker to that of a beginner. The participants admire the rich variety and the great amount of synonyms in the Spanish language and point out that here are grammatical phenomena unique to the language. Though the native speakers of Spanish tend to have problems learning German, they find it helpful that there are many loanwords from Latin in both tongues.

Besides the regular tables you can take part in a language tandem to learn and/or improve your skills in a foreign language by earning with a native speaker. The best way to do that is to pay a visit to the office of the Sprachenzentrum (language center) of the TU.  The language center, which also presented its program being our “Gauss-Advice” on Thursday evening, offers a large amount of language courses in over thirteen different languages and counted 9.000 learners. Even English beginner courses (A1) are possible to book! As silly as it might sound, you should seek information on classes and plan your next semester now, as these classes are very sought after.
