  1. Where are you from?

I’m from Tunisia. I grew up in Tunisia and did my bachelor’s degree in computer science there.

  1. When and why did you come to Braunschweig?

In July 2013 I came to Germany to continue my studies in Ostfalia. Since then I have lived in Braunschweig.

  1. What are your hobbies?

I like to do any kind of sports, especially martial arts. Sport is good for the body and the mind. I also like to make music and listen to metal.

  1. What sports do you do at the moment during the pandemic?

I used to think that running was not the right thing for me. But now I have changed my mind. Running is safe and I enjoy it now. This sport can be continued by everyone at any time. But I would like to continue doing other sports.

  1. What do you like and what don’t you like in Braunschweig?

The first year in Braunschweig was difficult because I had to learn the language and the rules etc. After the first few semesters it got better. I had to study more here than in my bachelor. But the learning atmosphere is better here, too. I developed fun in learning. Besides studying, I have also had some part-time jobs. At the beginning of my studies I did jobs that had nothing to do with my computer science studies. Afterwards, however, I was able to do jobs in this area that gave me study-related work experience.

  1. Since when are you active at Gauss Haus?

I started working in the Gauss Haus four years ago.

  1. What are your favourite events or activities at Gauss-Haus?

Sunday running, hiking in the Harz Mountains and the Berlin Tour.

  1. What ist your best moment at Gauss Haus?

The tour in the Harz mountains is my best experience. It was snowing that day, too.

  1. Why did you decide to go to the Gauss Haus?

I came to the Gauss Haus through friends. How exactly I don’t remember.

  1. How did the Gauss Haus change in the time you were there?

Not much has changed for me, except that Sunday’s run has been cancelled.

  1. Is your everyday life different now because of the Cornoa pandemie?

Sure! I don’t have to go to the office every day. I can use VPN to do my work from home. It’s also kind of boring because all the sports activities aren’t taking place. What bothers me most are the travel restrictions.

  1. Do you enjoy working in home office?

In the first weeks I loved it, but I also like to have a fixed routine that puts everything together.

  1. What are your next destinations?

I have a long list. First, I want to go to my home country to visit family and friends. Then, I want to do a language trip to Japan to learn Japanese.

  1. Do you have any suggestions for the future at Gauss Haus?

Everyone should be allowed to plan more at Gauss Haus. Everyone should make decisions about what will happen at Gauss Haus, so that they can participate more actively at Gauss Haus and not just passively get in and wait for entertainment.
