  1. Where are you from?

I come from the Fujian province in China and I live in Braunschweig. I studied at TU Braunschweig.

  1. When and why did you come to Braunschweig?

I came to Germany in October 2012. Firstly, I studied for two years in Ingolstadt. Then, at the end of 2013 I came to Braunschweig for the master’s degree in automotive engineering.

  1. What are your hobbies?

Reading and doing sports, e.g. basketball and badminton.

  1. What do you like and dislike in Braunschweig?

I like Braunschweig more. The city is bigger, and the cost of living is lower compared to Stuttgart. In addition, the TU Braunschweig is very well known for mechanical engineering and automotive engineering.

  1. What are your favorite events or activities at Gauss-Haus?

I am mainly involved in the organization. I like the different theme evening, especially the events for specific festivals. I also like the excursions.

  1. What is your best moment at Gauss-Haus?

I have experienced many wonderful moments. First of all, I remember the implementation of the Gauss-Haus project and the welcome reception with about 200 participants, so that the room was completely filled. Many people were even standing in the courtyard behind the Gauss-Haus. The Diwali Festival in the House of Cultures was also very nice.

  1. What is the special feature of Gauss-Haus?

The aim of Gauss-Haus is bringing people of different cultures together in a variety of events. That makes it special. In the beginning, everyone worked completely voluntarily to help others.

  1. How has the Gauss-Haus changed during the time you are here?

It has changed a lot. In the beginning, a lot of funding had to be applied for in order to carry out the project. Everything was organized during our spare time. Since the cooperation with Faculty 6 of the university has started, there are more aids and subsidies. Events like the theme evenings and the excursions are supported. Thus, the dimensions and the capacity have been increased.

  1. Is your everyday life different due to the Corona Pandemic?

Fortunately, not. I have completed my studies before the pandemic and therefore, I have no appointments at the moment. Unfortunately, I cannot go to the theme evenings on Tuesdays now. Apart from that, there are not many changed, because I also like to be at home and read books.

  1. Now, since you have completed your studies, do you already have a plan for the future?

Yes, I would like to continue working in Germany. In January, I went back to China for a short time. After I returned to Germany, almost all companies have limited their capacities here. So, it is difficult to find a job at the moment.

  1. Is there anything you would like to do directly after the Corona Pandemic?

Working!

  1. What is your next travel destination?

I haven’t really thought about that yet. But I still have many European countries on my travel list, for example Italy and Poland.
