Museum for Photography – Happy Thursday July 1st, 1:00-8:00 pm

Every first Thursday of the month, the Museum of Photography opens from 1:00 – 8:00 pm with free admission. A guided tour at 6:00 pm gives an overview of the current exhibition and in the museum garden conversations can be continued over a drink in a relaxed atmosphere.

Current exhibition: Double Dialogues by Ute Behrend, Ute Mahler, Käthe Buchler & Julia Margret Cameron.

Double Dialogues presents two positions from the historical collection of the Museum für Photographie Braunschweig by Käthe Buchler and Julia Margaret Cameron, in dialogue with works by the artists Ute Behrend (*1961) and Ute Mahler (*1949). For the first time, the exhibition presents photographs from Käthe Buchler’s Fairy Tale Album. In addition, the series Zirkus Hein by Ute Mahler is presented in partly newly made prints and variants. Ute Behrend’s series Bärenmädchen (Bear Girl), which received the Julia Margaret Cameron Prize, focuses on questions of identity and imaginary visual worlds, as does the work Cowboys. With the portrait photograph Young Woman with Pineapple by Julia Margaret Cameron, the exhibition is supplemented by a fourth position from the historical beginnings of photography.
