The newly designed permanent exhibition “A Part of Us. German-Jewish Stories from Lower Saxony” offers insights into the complex web of Lower Saxony-Jewish relations during an eventful history of coexistence and opposition of majority and minority society, of exclusion, integration and clinging to “one’s own” at the Hinter Aegidien site since December 9, 2021.

Art Exhibition – BOOOM! Wall paintings by Dominik Kuschmieder – until February 8th, 2022

Dominik Kuschmieder’s work in the Kunstschaufenster deals with comics from the 1990s. It is a further development of his diploma thesis, which was presented in August in the HBK’s assembly hall. There, he had dealt with movement sequences and stylistic elements within comics and explored the special aesthetics, formal language and specific colorfulness of comics and comic films.

In his work at Kunstschaufenster, he plays with the typography of the covers. He trims well-known logos of comics from the 90s, e.g. from Lucky Luke, Mickey Mouse, Rin Tintin and others, sets them on edge and composes a sequence from them, creating a rhythm all of his own. With the kind of montage he follows the movement of a comic film, in which individual still images are mounted one after the other to suggest movement.

Free admission.
