Gauss-Tips

Here they are: The fresh biweekly Gauss tips from January 12th, 2022 to January 25th, 2022

Theater Fadenschein – „Die Vermessung der Welt“ (Measuring the World) – January 14th & January 15th, 2022 at 8:00 pm

Towards the end of the 18th century, two young Germans set out to measure the world. One is Alexander von Humboldt, who fights his way through jungle and steppe with the French naturalist Aimé Bonpland, navigates the Orinoco, tests poisons on himself, counts the head lice of the natives, crawls into holes in the earth, climbs volcanoes and mountains that until then had seemed impregnable, and maps South America precisely.

The other is the mathematician and astronomer Carl Friedrich Gauss. He hardly ever leaves his home town of Göttingen, proves from his desk that space curves, and his calculations made the rediscovery of the asteroid Ceres possible.  Old, famous and becoming a little strange, these two “greatest minds” of German science meet in Berlin in 1828.

Admission free with the HBK Braunschweig or TU Braunschweig culture ticket. Tickets available here.

SCOUT & Gauss Friends: Running dinner – January 18th, 2022 at 6:30 pm

What is a Running Dinner and how does it work? Before the event starts, you will have to decide with your tandem partner in which kitchen you’d like to cook. If possible, chose a kitchen near the center, because you and your guests will have to change places in the city the whole evening. A short while before the event we will tell you which course you will prepare and where you will be guest for the other courses.

On January 18th 2022 at 6:30 pm the event starts. Prior to that you will prepare your course. At 6:30 pm it’s time for starters. You will meet with to other tandems or people from Gauss Friends to dinner. At yours or somewhere else. At 8:00 pm, you will be in another place to eat the main dish. At 9:30pm, it’s time for dessert. In the end we want to meet up with everyone in Gauss Haus.

Registration here until January 14th, 2022.
