HBK-Film forum: Andrei Tarkowskij – Stalker (curated and presented by Rita Macedo) – January 31st, 2022 at 7:00 pm

In an unnamed country at an unspecified time, an illegal guide known simply as ‘Stalker’ takes his two clients, a melancholic writer seeking inspiration, and a professor seeking scientific discovery, into the heart of the ‘The Zone’ in search of a mythical place that can fulfill one’s innermost desire. – ‘The Zone’ is a place of mystery full of obscure traps and unforeseeable dangers, in which physical reality and mental states merge, where things are not what they seem. – The trio travel through unnerving areas filled with the debris of modern society while engaging in many philosophical arguments that reflect upon the relationship between hope and reality, human nature and consciousness.

LOT-Theater: Miami Punk | James & Priscilla – February 3rd to February 5th, 2022

On the U.S. coast of Florida, the Atlantic Ocean has disappeared, revealing a new, end-time sandy desert. Tourism and shipping are a thing of the past, while local politics and a large corporation, the public, and an inscrutable network of interest groups struggle for power and interpretive authority. Against this backdrop of agony and actionism, slogans of perseverance and conspiracy theories, a game designer, a sociologist, a participant in the spiritualist “congress” and a German computer game team move through the ominously surreal Miami.

James & Priscilla narrate an end-time surreal Miami from Juan S. Guse’s novel of the same name. In their production, they juxtapose digital visual and sound worlds with an analogue stage event. They examine the novel text for its numerous perspectives, tell stories of loneliness and small utopias with current pop songs, move live through a bizarre computer game level, and thus transform the barren theater space into a dazzling Miami.

Admission free for students of HBK Braunschweig and TU Braunschweig.
