TRANSFERNALE 2023 – until May 4th, 2023

In the context of the transformation in the automotive industry, the Transfernale offers an exclusive insight into the current research of regional universities and colleges with a focus on strengthening the exchange and cooperative relationships between business and science in South-East Lower Saxony.

Every day from April 24th to May 4th, 2023, you can expect one of eight stages at a location in the region of South-East Lower Saxony, consisting of a lecture, a visit to an unusual location on site and an exchange with scientific experts. Thematically, these will be based on the respective strengths/challenges of the locations.

Open Doors – May 6th, 2023 at 10:30 am

The Ostfalia campus in Salzgitter celebrates their 30th birthday with children’s university and versatile participatory program. The Faculty of Transport-Sport-Tourism-Media invites you to an open day on Saturday, May 6th, 2023. In a children’s university, exciting questions will be answered that are also burning under the nails of adults: Researchers will reveal how self-driving cars work, what you should know about money, how characters in animated films come to life, and how to develop your own video game.

In addition, the faculty’s departments have exciting hands-on activities in store. With the train simulator, those interested can slip into the role of a train driver themselves, media design presents itself with virtual reality activities, professional social media production in the blue screen studio and a pop-up exhibition, it gets sporty with soccer darts and in the activity lounge visitors can quiz together, play games and discover foreign worlds with the help of virtual reality.

Mandolin Concert – May 6th, 2023 at 5:00 pm

On the occasion of the instrument of the year 2023, the mandolin, the Lower Saxony State Plucked String Orchestra makes a guest appearance in Braunschweig and presents itself in a joint concert with the Braunschweig Mandolin Association. Music from different eras will be played – from salon music and concertante folklore to contemporary classical plucked music, including the premiere of a piece by a Braunschweig composer.

Spring Fair – until May 7th, 2023

For 17 days, Braunschweig celebrates the largest carnival in 20 years on the Schützenplatz. At the Hamburger Straße it will be especially colorful and varied this time. 

On Friday, May 5th, Braunschweig’s largest fireworks display will be launched. This year the pyro specialist company Semmer will captivate the visitors and paint unforgettable sky paintings in the sky. Be surprised in which colors, shapes and fountains the Braunschweig night sky will shine and enchant you into another world! Be there, too, when it rains stars.

Gauss Friends Excursion: Hannover (International Museum Day) – May 21st, 2023 at 10:00 am

The International Museum Day is proclaimed annually by the International Council of Museums (ICOM) and will take place in 2023 for the 46th time. The aim of the Day of Action is to draw attention to the thematic variety of the more than 6,500 museums in Germany and the museums worldwide. With their broad spectrum, diverse offerings and innovative ideas, the museums make a major contribution to our cultural and social life.

On that day we will go to Hannover to visit the Sprengel Museum.
