European Culture

Hello, Hallo, Bonjour, Ciao, Hola, Olá, Salut, Hei, Ahoj, Γεια σας , Sveiki, Bok,…

Europe is a small continent, but it is home for many countries and their cultural diversity. A good example of its richness is the number of different languages spoken there, which are mainly, but not only, represented by romance, germanic and slavic languages. Along history, Europe has left its contributions in all areas, such as technology, painting and philosophy.

Erasmus of Rotterdam was one of the greatest scholars of the Renaissance and was elated by the cultural diversity and legacy of Europe. Therefore he spent his whole life studying, writing and translating works all around the continent: The Netherlands, France, Spain, England and many more. Gauß and Erasmus were not contemporaries, but they certainly had much in common.
